Billing Clerk - Fully Remote

A medical biller is responsible for the timely submission of technical or professional medical claims to insurance companies. The position may be located in physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes, or other healthcare facilities.

Job Duties:

• Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
• Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
• Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
• Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
• AR
• Posting payments
• Researching and appealing denied claims.
• Facility billing a PLUS
• Anesthesia billing a+

Education and Experience Required

Basic requirements include:

• A high school diploma
• Knowledge of business and accounting processes is usually obtained from an associate's degree, with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Health Care Administration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge and experience in all aspects of billing.
• Knowledge of regulations related to No Fault, Workers Comp, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$88,000. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and business considerations.
