POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant plays a key role on the accounting team. The main function is to process and accurately record payments for all divisions within Dem-Con Companies and assist with front desk duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet incoming guests in a cheerful and welcoming manner. Offer refreshments and a seat while alerting proper individuals of guest arrival.
- Open daily checks that come in mail and organize into correct folders per software program.
- Process all daily checks, accurately input onto payment spreadsheet and record into correct programs.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable email box and process any ACH or Credit Card payment requests.
- Pull daily credit card reports and accurately input onto payment spreadsheets and record into the correct programs.
- Retrieve daily landfill packet from lockbox, pull report, and accurately record previous
- day’s cash proceeds into QuickBooks.
- Reconcile and create receivables in QuickBooks for outbound commodities.
- Assist with any Accounts Receivable tasks or projects.
- Assist Accounts Payable with Miscellaneous tasks as needed.
- Perform bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Utilize multiple operating software programs to manage customer receivables and reconcile vendor bills.
- Prepare outbound mail including weekly check runs, weekly/monthly invoicing & statements and other mailings upon request ensuring proper postage allocation by division.
- Maintain efficient filing system of paid vendor bills.
- Perform special project-related work on an ad-hoc basis.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in an office environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Applications
- 2-3 years working knowledge and use with Excel
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
