Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Recruitment and Outreach is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and strategic initiatives that promote overall student success for both undergraduate and graduate programs. This position reports to the Chief of Staff and Director of Communications and is responsible for developing and implementing opportunities to expand the school’s community reach through events and programs.

The Director of Recruitment and Outreach will be required to possess thorough knowledge of all undergraduate and graduate admissions requirements, departments, curricula, scholarships, and graduation requirements. They will manage and lead a team focused on executing recruitment, outreach, and student success priorities across the School of Art.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan in collaboration with the School of Art Director and Chief of Staff. The Director will expand access to undergraduate and graduate programs through innovative outreach efforts targeting prospective students with a wide range of backgrounds. They will oversee recruitment activities and documentation with the Recruitment Coordinator, manage the scholarship process with the Scholarship Coordinator, and contribute and mentor staff managing course scheduling and advising. Strong collaboration with all School of Art staff is key to effective and successful execution.

The Director plays a central role as a liaison with campus-wide student support services, such as Center for Student Success, Career Services, Registrar, and Financial Aid. Additionally, works closely with the Office of Development as needed to support donor relations and foster partnerships among arts organizations, high schools, and professional organizations throughout the community, state, and region.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher earned from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least two years of experience in recruiting or experience in a related area

  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the qualifications listed above.

  • At least one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher earned from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least one year of experience working with the University of Arkansas BASIS system (any module)

  • At least one year of experience working with the University of Arkansas UAConnect system

  • Experience in higher education arts programming

  • Experience with community arts organizations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Higher education organizations, admissions, and recruitment processes

  • Challenges and opportunities facing higher education

  • Marketing and communication best practices

The candidate is skilled in using:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Project management system

  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

The candidate has demonstrated ability to:

  • Establish and implement outreach activities

  • Implement strategies increasing recruitment of prospective students

  • Establish productive working relationships with college faculty and staff and the community at large

  • Manage and delegate multiple competing priorities at once

  • Perform responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner and is reliable, resourceful, tactful, self-starting, flexible, and cooperative

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously


Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
