Mechanical Engineer (Starshield)

SpaceX's Starshield program focuses on government satellite technology supporting national security, seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop complex electromechanical systems for cutting-edge satellites.

Skills

  • Mechanical and electromechanical design and analysis
  • CAD and FEA software proficiency
  • GD&T knowledge and application
  • Structural analysis and failure mode understanding
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Own hardware and mechanisms from concept design to on-orbit operations
  • Develop design criteria and collaborate on requirements for system-level optimization
  • Iterate on designs to guide systems trades and product direction
  • Drive design for manufacturing to minimize part and process count and ensure quality
  • Establish product lifecycle efficiency from supply chain to final integration
  • Perform environmental and performance testing to validate hardware
  • Manage product delivery timelines through all development stages
  • Take ownership of product outcomes throughout development and production

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM discipline required
  • Master’s degree preferred
