Staff Airframe Design Engineer
Skills
- Expertise in lightweight structures for aircraft or high-performance vehicles
- Strong CAD proficiency in NX (preferred), Solidworks, Catia, or Creo
- Experience with composite sandwich construction, adhesive bonding, and hand-laid prepreg carbon fiber
- Knowledge of FAA Part 23 aircraft certification requirements
- Familiarity with PDM systems and manufacturing composite parts
Responsibilities
- Lead development of major structural airframe assemblies from preliminary design to certification and manufacturing ramp-up
- Apply in-depth understanding of load paths, design best practices, and hand calculations to ensure robust structural configurations
- Incorporate design for manufacturing concepts to optimize cost and fabrication efficiency
- Develop company standards for composite and metallic CAD models and drawings
- Mentor and collaborate with engineers on design, stress, and materials & processes teams
- Provide technical guidance balancing risk, cost, and performance considerations
- Support manufacturing validation and verification processes to meet requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field
