Skills
- Experience in automotive assembly quality or manufacturing quality engineering in high-volume environments.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Gage R&R.
- Proficiency with problem-solving methodologies including 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why, and FMEA facilitation.
- Competence in quality data systems and MES dashboards.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools or part specification documents.
Responsibilities
- Oversee quality performance through all vehicle assembly stages including Body in White, Paint, Trim, and Final Assembly.
- Analyze product quality trends using tools like Pareto, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and implement layered quality control plans, inspection standards, and detection systems tailored to product complexity.
- Lead problem-solving during prototype builds, pre-production, and ramp-up phases; support line-side investigations and repair containment.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure design-for-quality and build feasibility.
- Support dimensional quality efforts focusing on fit, finish, flushness, and alignment.
- Validate critical assembly processes using error-proofing techniques and real-time quality monitoring systems.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and foster a zero-defect quality culture.
- Conduct audits and prepare for IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and VW-specific quality standards compliance.
- Train production teams and quality inspectors on key process controls and quality-critical features.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical related field.
