About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Enrolled Agent (EA) to lead and grow an established, client-centered tax and accounting practice. These practices serve loyal, referral-driven client bases of individuals and small businesses, offering services including tax preparation and planning, bookkeeping, accounting, and business advisory.
The ideal candidate is a credentialed tax professional with leadership experience, relationship-building skills, and the ambition to help take an already successful business to the next level.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead tax preparer and advisor for a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients
Oversee day-to-day operations of the practice, including workflow management, client scheduling, and service delivery
Manage and mentor a small, experienced team of accounting professionals
Maintain and grow strong client relationships through proactive communication and excellent service
Review and finalize tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable tax laws
Provide bookkeeping oversight and consultative business advisory services where appropriate
Identify growth opportunities through service expansion, client referrals, and operational improvements
Leverage existing accounting and tax software platforms including Drake, QuickBooks (Desktop & Online), and client portals
Lead client transition efforts in new practice acquisitions to ensure retention and relationship continuity
Qualifications:
Active Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required
Minimum 5 years of recent, hands-on tax preparation experience, with expertise in individual (1040), small business (Schedule C, 1120, 1120S, 1065), and payroll tax matters
Prior experience managing client relationships and supervising staff within a tax or accounting firm
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and tax preparation software (Drake preferred)
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in high-volume, deadline-driven environments, especially during tax season
Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in leadership, business growth, and potential practice ownership opportunities
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive base salary range of $150-225K with performance-based bonus opportunities
