Description

Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee, Illinois, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Administration / Director House Supervisor Nurse to oversee the daily operations of nursing services. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, optimizing staffing and resource allocation, and fostering a collaborative environment among nursing and administrative staff. The Director House Supervisor will act as a key liaison between departments and ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.


Essential Duties

  • Oversee the overall management of nursing operations during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate patient flow and staffing needs, making real-time adjustments to optimize care delivery and resource utilization.
  • Act as a clinical leader and mentor for nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and education as necessary.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and satisfaction, implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery.
  • Serve as the primary contact for administrative issues, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies, conducting regular audits and assessments of nursing practices.

Non-essential Duties

  • Participate in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the recruitment, orientation, and training of nursing staff.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives and represent Riverside Healthcare at professional events.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings, providing insights and recommendations for improving operational efficiencies.

Requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire nursing teams.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Required Licensure/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications in nursing leadership or administration are a plus.

  • Video Display Terminals: Extreme 
  • Blood and Body Fluids: Minimal potential due to very restricted direct patient contact. 
  • TB or Airborne Pathogens: Minimal potential due to very restricted direct patient contact. 

Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch):

  • Speech: Required to communicate with physicians, patients, staff and hospitals. 
  • Vision: Needed to see MIS display, graphic lines for documentation, read printouts of reports, names on charts and forms. 
  • Smell: Needed for electrical/fire safety, detect presence of ETOH on patients and visitors. Hearing: Needed for telephone communication, hear intercom system from patient rooms and front door. 
  • Touch: Required to manipulate and operate office equipment and tools.

  • Carry records from place to place, waist high approx 10-15'. 
  • Lift supplies from floor to cabinets, about 3-4'. 
  • Lift/carry supplies from utility rooms to counter and office. 
  • Carry stacks of chairs waist high approx 5-15'. In an emergency, could be required to carry a fire extinguisher down/up 3 flights of stairs and several hundred yards.

  • Chemical -drugs/work with patients receiving chemotherapy-Explosive-oxygen; Radiation-cesium implants and radioactive iodine therapy direct radiation for radiology equipment; mechanical- use of Hoover lift bed scales, motorized wheelchairs, bathtub lift chair.
  • Protective Clothing Required: As required for chemotherapy or in cases of isolation, i.e. gloves, gowns, masks, goggles.
