Role Overview

Growth Acceleration Partners (GAP) is a consulting and technology services firm specializing in custom software development, data engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for U.S.-based mid-market and enterprise clients. We are seeking a high-performing Sales Executive with a strong track record of acquiring new clients ("hunting new logos"), particularly in the mid-market and enterprise space. This individual excels at independently building a pipeline through their own C-level industry network and thrives without heavy reliance on marketing support. The ideal candidate will drive GAP's expansion by targeting mid-market and enterprise clients in healthcare, financial services, and other technology-driven sectors, with a focus on advanced AI and data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Sales Focus:

  • Custom software development and engineering teams (retained and project-based)
  • Data engineering and AI solution implementations
  • Legacy application modernization and migration services
  • Strategic technology consulting engagements
  • Managed services and licensed technology solutions

Core Activities:

  • Proactively identify, engage, and close new mid-market and enterprise clients for GAP's comprehensive technology solutions
  • Develop and execute a targeted outbound sales strategy, leveraging personal industry connections and networks to generate qualified leads
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, prioritizing high-value accounts with complex technology needs, especially those seeking AI-driven transformation
  • Collaborate with internal teams (delivery, engineering, AI specialists, leadership) to shape solutions that address client challenges and deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Extensive travel (50%+ travel, 2-3 trips monthly) for client meetings, industry events, and relationship building with key decision makers across target markets
  • Maintain a high level of activity (calls, meetings, presentations) to achieve and exceed sales targets, with minimal reliance on inbound marketing leads

  • Fixed-price and T&M projects including Proofs of Concept
  • Managed services with recurring revenue models
  • Licensed migration technology (VBUC, PowerBuilder, Blazor tools)

  • Retained team engagements
  • Large-scale migration projects
  • Multi-year digital transformation initiatives
  • Hybrid delivery models combining teams, projects, and managed services

Target Market

Target Accounts:

Mid-market and enterprise companies ($500M+ revenue) in need of

  • Custom software development and team augmentation
  • Legacy system modernization (especially VB6, PowerBuilder, .NET migrations)
  • Data engineering and AI implementation
  • Cloud-native application development
  • Strategic technology consulting for digital transformation

Key Decision Makers:

  • C-level executives (CIO, CTO, CDO)
  • VPs of Engineering and Technology
  • Directors of Engineering and IT
  • Digital Transformation Leaders

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience & Track Record:

  • 10+ years of enterprise sales experience in consulting, custom software development, data engineering, or AI solutions (excluding SaaS and data modernization services)
  • Demonstrated success in consistently meeting or exceeding quota by independently sourcing, developing, and closing new logo deals
  • 3+ years tenure per previous role demonstrating stability and commitment
  • Previous experience with similar-sized consulting/technology services firms
  • Proven track record through multiple business cycles (minimum 3+ full cycles)
  • Deep, active network of C-level and VP-level technology and business buyers in target industries
  • Experience selling complex, consultative solutions with long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with AI-driven sales processes and the ability to articulate the value of AI and data engineering in business transformation

Solutions Expertise:

  • Understanding of custom software development lifecycle and team augmentation
  • Familiarity with data engineering, analytics, and AI implementation projects
  • Knowledge of legacy system modernization challenges (VB6, PowerBuilder migrations)
  • Experience selling DevOps, cloud native architecture, and digital transformation initiatives

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; comfortable engaging both technical and non-technical audiences
  • High integrity, transparency, and alignment with GAP's people-oriented, innovative, and inclusive culture
  • Experience managing long-term retained team contracts and project-based engagements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.  Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is a plus. 

Compensation Package

  • $130,000-$150,000 base salary
  • 4% uncapped commission on new logo revenue
  • Significant earning potential with no commission ceiling

Important Notes

  • Travel Requirement: This role requires extensive travel (50%+ travel, 2-3 trips monthly)
  • Network Advantage: We welcome candidates currently under non-compete agreements and will work with qualified candidates on transition timing
  • Book of Business: Existing client relationships and portable business opportunities are highly valued
  • Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future

Minimum requirements for consideration:

  • 10+ years of enterprise sales experience in consulting, custom software development, data engineering, or AI solutions (excluding SaaS and data modernization services)
