Position: Assistant Controller
Position reports to the Chief Financial Officer
Job Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid - 1718 W Fullerton Ave)
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $120,000 - $130,000 Yearly
The Assistant Controller is responsible for the support of the day-to-day accounting functions and tasks for the company.
Responsibilities
- Timely preparation of detailed monthly financial statements
- Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses
- Maintain Chart of Accounts and Financial Statement grouping
- Assisting with inventory reconciliations and job closings / cost variances
- Managing all aspects of the general ledger
- ERP/Epicor financial lead
- Help prepare and evaluate budgets
- Responsible for timely completion of month end close
- Help prepare and monitor analytical and key performance indicators
- Ownership of accurate and timely monthly balances sheet reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accounting departments/managers
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll and preparing reports to be distributed to department heads and management
- Establish internal controls to prevent inaccuracies on the financial statements
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Prepare analysis for cash forecasting analysis
- Managing files and producing information for external audits (financial, 401k, Insurance, etc.)
- Assist in the preparation of information needed to complete corporate tax returns
- Specific projects and other ad hoc assignments as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- CPA with solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
- MS-Office proficiency, specifically intermediate to advanced Excel skills is a must
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an accounting role
- Experience managing a team
- Experience with Epicor ERP preferred
- Payroll software (preferably Paylocity)
