Purpose

A lab manager is sought to work on multiple ongoing projects focused on basic science and research with infants, children and adults, led by Dr. Jeffrey J. Lockman. This position start date can be as soon as 07/01/2025 but is flexible. Extensive training and close supervision will be provided. This is a fixed-term position with a duration of one year.

Responsibilities

The lab manager will be expected to

  • Work with undergraduate and graduate students to coordinate research projects and conduct testing of infants, children and adults.
  • Design and implement procedures to recruit families with young children to participate in research projects.
  • Conduct home visits and preschool/school visits for testing child and family participants on research projects in the Austin metropolitan area.
  • Code video-data using a computerized coding system
  • Develop and implement protocols for maintaining data quality, including outreach and follow-up with longitudinal participants.
  • Manage study files, lab expenses, and Departmental/University paperwork including IRB compliance documents.
  • Coordinate weekly scientific meetings.

​Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, or related field and two years of relevant research experience as an undergraduate or post-bacc.
  • At least 4 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree.
  • Effective time management and attention to detail to ensure the tasks and goals of the project are completed to a high-quality standard.
  • Prior work in settings conducting research with human participants, preferably with infants or preschool children or teaching preschool children.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with recruitment and data collection.
  • Familiarity with video coding software, and basic office software suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with observational coding.

Salary Range

$45,000+ depending on qualifications
