Principal Propulsion Engineer
Skills
- Proven engineering leadership experience with at least 7 years leading teams
- Strong technical expertise in propulsion or aerospace engineering
- Ability to manage program risks and communicate status
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with launch vehicles, space vehicles, and associated systems
- Skilled in system of systems architecture trades and development
Responsibilities
- Lead and arbitrate interdisciplinary architectural trades related to propulsion systems
- Report program status and risks internally and externally on a regular cadence
- Establish and maintain a positive, hardware-focused culture with urgency towards space exploration goals
- Hire, mentor, and develop individual contributors and people leaders within the Starship team
- Translate customer mission requirements into actionable development objectives and verification plans
- Develop system requirements and interface control documents based on trade study results
- Lead customer reviews and ensure timely, high-quality technical contract deliverables
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (required)
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or relevant discipline (preferred)
