Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager

The Manager, Reporting and Technical Accounting directs and supervises the reporting (internal and external) and technical accounting functions at Azamara. This individual leads the preparation of our internal and external reporting, development of corporate policies and analysis of technical accounting matters. This position requires a strong basis in internal controls.

This individual has a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and reporting requirements and can communicate and interact effectively with employees and managers from different departments. The individual is detail-oriented, organized, and accurate in their work.  

Requirements

• Manages the preparation of our quarterly and annual financial statements by the terms of our bond agreement and statutory filings as required by the regulatory agencies in locations that we operate. 
• Oversees the preparation of our board report, interim management reports, and earnings releases.
• Directs the preparation of debt covenant compliance certificates.
• Oversees the design and operation of internal controls over financial reporting to ensure that financial information is complete and accurate and properly reflects the financial position, results of operations, cash flows and equity of the Company.
• Manages and leads communications with external auditors. 
• Serves as the accounting lead (working with other departments including Treasury, Tax, Legal, Financial Planning & Analysis, among others) on significant and/or unusual transactions meriting application/interpretation of GAAP and leads discussions with internal management on technical account matters. 
• Serves as the accounting lead on the implementation of new GAAP accounting standards, including overseeing the research on how the standards will impact the company, development of the implementation plan, discussions with external auditors, considerations of internal control impacts and follow-up to ensure proper implementation of standards.
• Teaches and instructs the team regarding any new GAAP accounting considerations and industry regulations and how it will impact the Company.
• Assists with the implementation of and establishment of a ships controller role, including establishing internal controls shipboard.
• Leads the selection, design and implementation of a reporting tool, or any changes to the reporting process.
• Does any preliminary, or initial review of internal reporting requirements and documents.

Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skills:

• The individual has a degree(s) in Accounting from an accredited university or has the equivalent approved work experience.
• The individual is a CPA with an active license.
• The individual has four to six years of experience in Big 4 Public Accounting.
• The individual has experience auditing publicly traded companies and is broadly familiar with the SEC reporting requirements.
• Experience with NetSuite (or similar) systems is a plus.
• Proficient in drafting clear and thorough written communications. 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
