We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Concepts Senior Designer to join our Ocoee, FL office.

AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic, detail-oriented self-starter to join our team in Orlando, Florida as a Sr. Highway Designer, supporting the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area). This position will provide career growth opportunities through engagement with FTE toll road infrastructure projects. Project assignments at this level involve a variety of projects, ranging from intersection improvements to interchange reconfigurations and limited access facility widening improvements.

The ideal candidate will have a broad highway engineering background, with experience in limited access roadway and/or tolling facility projects preferred. Willingness to be a team player is a must. Relocation assistance is available.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Responsible for preparing preliminary improvement alternatives and drawings, including roadway plans, cross sections, typical sections profiles, safety treatments, tolling facility layouts etc. as needed and defined by the overall conceptual improvement plan effort.
• Researches, recommends, and presents alternate design approaches based upon client request, governmental code requirements and other needs.
• Performs and supervises designs utilizing CAD.
• Organizes or directs field visits to collect data or resolve design conflicts.
• Individual works closely with the Concept Project Manager.
• Individual will be working full time in the Client’s office and must be able to communicate well with others.
• Position will require the ability to work well in a team environment with other consultants in the Client’s office.
• Position does require time management and organizational skills as the individual will be involved in multiple projects operating on multiple schedules.
• Position may require limited daily and overnight travel on as needed basis to support the Client.

What will you contribute?

• Associate's degree plus a minimum of Ten (10) years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least seven as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of Fifteen (15) years progressive drafting and design experience, including at least ten as a Designer.
• Experience with toll facility/limited access projects is a plus.
• Must be familiar with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Policy and Procedures, including the Florida Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans. Must be familiar with AASHTO design criteria.
• Strong geometric design skills for various types of roadways, highways, interstates, expressway facilities etc.
• General Engineering Consultant (GEC) experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office personal computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
• Communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• No professional registration is required.
