Head of Finance for US-Based Cycling Company (Remote)

We are currently seeking a Head of Finance for a leading US-based cycling company that is passionate about promoting cycling culture and enhancing the customer experience. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial operations of the organization, ensuring growth and sustainability while providing strategic insights to drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting
• Oversee all daily financial operations, including A/P, A/R, reconciliations, and payroll.
• Generate monthly financial statements, cash flow analyses, and ongoing forecasts.
• Provide strategic financial insights directly to the CEO to support decision-making.
• Ensure full visibility of financial performance across departments.

Bookkeeping & Accounting Leadership
• Supervise bookkeeping (preferably via QuickBooks Online), ensuring records are accurate, current, and GAAP-compliant.
• Review COGS allocations, inventory entries, and journal adjustments for accuracy.
• Lead monthly and annual close processes with zero errors or delays.

Tax Compliance & Filings
• Manage multi-state sales tax registrations, filings, and remittances.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed for corporate tax compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update internal systems accordingly.

Processes & Controls
• Maintain robust internal financial controls and reporting structures.
• Recommend improvements to budgeting, cash flow, and margin tracking.
• Build systems that support scalability, growth, and transparency

• Active CPA license (required)
  
• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in e-commerce, retail, or inventory-heavy businesses
  
• Strong understanding of sales tax nexus and filings across multiple states
  
• Highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets, and financial modeling
  
• Strong communication skills — able to clearly and proactively report insights to the CEO
  
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to self-manage in a fast-paced environment
  

• Experience working with Shopify, PayPal, eBay, or other marketplaces is a plus
