The Quantitative Research Analyst provides specialized skills in data sciences, statistics, and economics to the Ohio Education Research Center (OERC) at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. The experienced candidate would work as part of a multifunctional team of directors, researchers, database managers, and web developers to carry out the education and workforce research priorities of Ohio’s public agencies and the research and instructional priorities of the OERC.
This role encompasses a unique blend of responsibilities, including data analysis, administrative support, and general research assistance. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in utilizing various data sources to contribute valuable insights to OERC research projects. Additionally, the position involves administrative duties related to the Public Sector Internship program and Data Literacy training for state agencies.
The core responsibilities include conducting in-depth data analysis under the supervision of senior researchers and project leads and providing general research support. The candidate will extensively analyze administrative data, survey data, and publicly available data to generate descriptive statistics, as well as applying advanced statistical and econometric techniques, such as multivariate regressions and machine learning. The candidate will produce well-documented and reusable code in programming languages such as Python, R, Stata, and other software packages. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the creation of clear and compelling research reports, by interpreting analysis results, conducting literature reviews, generating data visualizations, and providing meaningful and impactful data-driven insights.
Beyond the analytical realm, the candidate will also oversee and manage administrative tasks related to internship programs, and data analysis training programs. These tasks include coordinating, executing, and ensuring the seamless operation of program-related activities. The candidate should have effective communication skills and be willing to work in an interdisciplinary team to generate impactful research in the fields of workforce and education and to engage stakeholders and relevant audiences.

This is a 100% grant funded term position not to exceed 06/30/2027.
Position is ineligible for sponsorship and requires a physical onsite presence on the Columbus campus.
The salary range for this position will be $75,700.00 to $98,900 to be determined by internal equity, budget, and the candidate's education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Public Administration, Data Science). 2 years of relevant experience required in large data analytics projects using government records data in a public policy context. Training in SQL is a requirement, and expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and data visualizations using R, Python, and STATA is necessary. Experience in coordinating and managing training programs. Must have excellent time management skills as well as the ability to multi-task.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Public Administration, Data Science). 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred with experience with SAS, Tableau or Power BI is strongly preferred with the ability to communicate complex data analyses visually and/or in written text to a general audience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to data security and analytic accuracy is essential.
