Provides high quality imaging using both Nuclear Medicine and Computed Tomography technology for PET-CT exams
Proactively reviews physician’s orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
Seeks clarification for any discrepancies prior to beginning exam and ensures an accurate written order is included in the patient’s medical record.
Confirms patients are prepped according to exam protocol prior to appointment date.
Prepare patients PET imaging procedures, including ensuring proper fasting, medication management, and any required pre-procedure testing.
Follows medication labeling practices per written policy prior to administering IV and oral contrast.
Handles, calibrates, and administers radioactive materials to patients in accordance with accepted safety procedures to safeguard against overexposure to radiation for patients, staff, and self.
Performs QC and calibration testing for all imaging and hot lab equipment and performs daily contamination tests in adherence to practice standards, Northside policy, and the RAM license.
Follows guidelines of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Follows appropriate process for safe receipt and disposal of radioactive materials.
Provides both written and verbal patient education across all demographics, reviewing and documenting relevant medical history and screening for contraindications.
Obtains informed consent as delegated by the interpreting physician and in accordance with written policy.
Observes and monitors patient condition and notifies appropriate personnel of any significant changes or incidents.
Selects equipment protocol, positions patient, and modifies factors as necessary to display desired anatomy.

Responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients and operating imaging equipment for diagnostic imaging or therapeutic purposes.
Utilizes PET-CT technology to combine nuclear medicine and computed tomography to provide detailed 2D and 3D images.
Administers contrast and performs diagnostic imaging in both the PET and CT modalities.
Works closely with physicians, particularly radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians, to ensure the safe and accurate acquisition of images and data needed for diagnosing and treating diseases.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology and/or Radiologic Technology program.
CNMT or PET certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
OR
Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
Advanced certification in Computed Tomography with ARRT or NMTCB.
Certified in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
