Description

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Team Lead to join the John Marshall Bank team in Arlington, VA. The Senior Commercial Team Lead is responsible for growing the regional sales area by developing customer relationships while effectively managing and providing sales leadership. This individual will serve as the Leader of all Commercial Lending activities in the market which will involve managing a team comprised of Commercial Loan Officer(s), Portfolio Manager(s), and Loan Administrator(s) and will include the coordination of sales efforts with branch staff and other Business Development Officers. This individual is responsible for maintaining and growing market share by effectively partnering with all lines of business and developing highly professional and skilled work teams.


In this role you will:

  • Proactively and systematically call on prospects and existing clients to maximize market share, client experience, and satisfaction with John Marshall Bank
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the market and full utilization of resources to execute strategies to increase sales opportunities.
  • Generate sales opportunities as a community leader.
  • Leverage centers of influence to drive business into the region.
  • Evaluate credit, risk management, and loan structuring.
  • Exercise lending authority to approve and process loans.
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial loans.
  • Partner effectively with all lines of business.
  • Drive the growth and profitability of the assigned region by expanding the loan base while effectively managing expenses.
  • Recruit and expand the commercial sales team within the region.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions with all direct reports to provide balanced feedback, opportunities for improvement and professional development opportunities.
  • Follow John Marshall Bank’s policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Understand and identify regional market trends, and effectively partner with senior management to execute specific regional strategies.


As a part of this job’s responsibilities, you may be assigned direct reports requiring training & coaching, general support and cyclical performance responsibilities - Partner with Human Resources in the performance management process and make appropriate employee relations recommendations including salary, promotions, counseling, performance, and improvement plans.



Requirements


Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or Banking related field of study
  • At LEAST 5 years of sales experience with proven successful results


Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of various phases of sales management, including planning, goal setting, project and time management and selling techniques.
  • Ability to successfully coach, motivate and develop sales team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading a team
