Accounting Specialist

Description

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with general accounting operations and regulations, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and performing and managing the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The following duties and competencies are essential for success in this role:

· In-depth knowledge of inventory and cost accounting principles

· Timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations

· Oversight of A/R processes, including customer correspondence, collections, recording of deposits, statement generation, and various reporting for Management.

· Oversight of A/P processes, including auditing AP invoice entries and supplier set ups, reconciliations to statements, supplier correspondence and Treasury Management to include issuing checks and ACH and wire transfers

· Completion of bank reconciliations

· Maintenance and tracking of fixed assets

· Maintenance and tracking of sales tax

· Recording and reconciling credit card activities. 

· Participation in financial and other accounting-related audits

· Support in other accounting functions as assigned

Requirements

· Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger Activities.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to sort large amounts of data (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc):

· Proficient in Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar organization)

· Strong organizational and time-management skills

· Self-motivated with the ability to adapt and work independently

· Team-oriented, with a willingness to assist in other departmental areas when needed

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (equivalent experience may be considered)

· Experience in the automotive industry preferred but not required
