Job Summary
The Deputy Director of Oversight supports the implementation of the City Council President’s legislative oversight agenda. Under the direction of the Director of Oversight, this position contributes to the planning and execution of oversight hearings and related projects through research, coordination, and process management. The role is ideal for a professional with strong analytical, research, and communication skills who is building expertise in legislative and government operations.
This role is responsible for project-based work, maintains key interdepartmental relationships, and ensures follow-through on oversight activities that help hold City government accountable to residents.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Have a bachelor's degree in public administration, Business Administration, Government, Political Science, Law, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or advanced degree is preferred but not required.
AND
Experience: Have at least two (2) years of professional-level administrative, operations, policy, or legal experience is required, preferably in a government or legislative environment.
Experience related to investigatory, oversight, or compliance work is strongly preferred.
Previous work lead or coordination experience is helpful but not required.
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Check

Probation
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
