Arthur Grand Technologies is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mainframe Database Administrator – DB2, IMS Background – Long Term Contract – Wilmington, DE for one of our clients.
Position: Mainframe Database Administrator with IMS Background
Location: Wilmington, DE (Weekly 5 days office is must)
Duration: Contract
Job Description:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA working with IBM DB2 and IMS on z/OS.
- Strong experience with tools such as DB2 Utilities (REORG, LOAD, RUNSTATS, COPY), IMS utilities, and Tivoli OMEGAMON.
- Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and other z/OS mainframe tools.
- Solid understanding of relational database theory, storage structures, and performance tuning.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, data replication, and high availability strategies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Administer and maintain DB2 for z/OS and IMS (DB/DC) databases to ensure high availability and performance.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch DB2 and IMS environments.
- Perform database design, physical data modelling, and schema management for new and existing applications.
- Monitor and tune database performance; proactively resolve issues related to memory, locking, and storage.
- Perform backups, restores, and recovery using IBM utilities and job control language (JCL).
- Ensure data integrity, enforce standards, and apply security controls in accordance with compliance and governance requirements.
- Support development teams with SQL optimization, application deployment, and problem resolution.
- Develop and maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and runbooks.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for production database environments as needed.
- Collaborate with system programmers, storage administrators, and application developers on cross-functional projects
