MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in hospital administration, healthcare administration, business administration, public health or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Significant leadership, mediation, political, and negotiation skills and abilities.
2. Demonstrated history of excelling in leadership positions with an emphasis on program growth.
3. Minimum of 5-10 years leadership experience in a clinical operations leadership role with expertise in the regulatory environment, preferably transplantation.
4. Ability to develop and manage clinical operations, strategic planning, operational improvement, compliance, marketing, and community relations.
5. Experience in management of personnel, payroll, budgets, capital, business planning, marketing, physician relations, and management of supervisory positions.

1. Responsible for the planning and development of the transplant service line.
2. Responsible for the overall management and operation of the transplant program and is directly involved in all aspects of the service line.
3. Leads and participates in the recruitment of the Transplant Medical Director(s), transplant physicians, and transplant staff.
4. Manages support service arrangements across functional areas and sets performance expectations for services not directly reporting to the transplant service line.
5. Develops annual and long-term volume, outcomes, and business goals for the transplant program
6. Accountable along with the Transplant Medical Directors for financial performance and achieving set business goals.
7. Oversees contracting and procedure development with external partners to provide transplant centric clinical and operational services.
8. Develops and fosters effective collaboration between clinical departments and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling clinical, research, and educational goals and objectives.
9. Functions as an effective liaison and intermediary between the various clinical departments who are primary stakeholders in the Transplant Service and the health system’s decision making and organizational structures.
10. Represents transplant services to the external market, as well as internally, through the application of community relations and marketing activities.
11. Actively promotes, and is involved with, the monitoring and documentation of the program’s clinical and administrative activities against established standards of care.
12. Develops new business strategies to enhance market share and improve overall performance.
13. Works with leadership teams throughout the hospital, serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, and analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions. In general, coordinates the delivery of clinical care related to these areas in conjunction with the CEO and the transplant team, among others.
14. Develops sound plans and programs for quality, risk, and utilization management that will be necessary to establish and maintain national, state, and local certifications and accreditation. This includes meeting all UNOS reporting requirements, maintaining full TJC accreditation, as well as Medicare certification.
15. Communicates key information to the stakeholders of the services areas with respect to managed care, marketplace needs, the competitive environment, cost management, and customer-focused programs and services.
16. Develops and fosters a regional, national and international programmatic identity and reputation through education, scholarly work, academic endeavors and medical/transplant society participation.
17. Works with federal, state, and local governments on the development of potential legislation that may impact the transplant service
18. Works with internal WVUH payor contracting department to identify contracting options, liaison with payors, and negotiate /enforce contracts.
19. Works with finance to develop and validate mechanisms to capture and appropriately document transplant specific charges for billing and inclusion on the Medicare cost report
20. Oversees the implementation and ongoing functionality development of the EPIC Phoenix transplant EMR module(s).
