Transportation Planner

Wow Bao is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Transportation Planner for our new food production facility in Forest City, NC. This role is integral to ensuring the efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods in and out of our entire network, including our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with a passion for logistics, strong organizational skills, and a drive for continuous improvement.

You will play a vital role in our operations, working cross-functionally with Customer Service, Supply Planning, Raw Materials Planning, Production, and Shipping/Receiving teams to optimize transportation and contribute to overall plant performance.

The manufacturing facility is set to open later this year in Forest City, North Carolina. This full-time position is initially remote/hybrid. Once construction is complete and office space becomes available, the position will transition to an on-site schedule, working from the office five days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties will be assigned as needed)

• Develop and execute weekly transportation plans to meet shipping and receiving requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and logistics providers.
• Monitor shipments and resolve issues proactively to ensure on-time delivery.
• Scheduling inbound and outbound appointments with carriers at warehouse, making sure to keep schedules up to date
• Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders to align transportation with production and inventory plans.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in transportation and logistics workflows.
• Maintain accurate documentation and data tracking for shipments and carrier performance.
• Support inventory accuracy and flow by aligning transportation plans with warehouse capacity and demand.
• Collaborate with the Shipping/Receiving team to ensure seamless handoff and clear communication.
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities and resolve logistical challenges with urgency and creativity.

Qualifications & Skills

• 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations (preferred).
• Strong understanding of carrier operations, freight management, and logistics best practices.
• Experience with shipping/receiving and/or inventory management is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a focus on execution.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Willingness to ask questions, learn new systems, and drive continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP software, or Microsoft Excel is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to work in various work environments including cold environments for extended periods.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
