This is a hybrid role and you will be required to sit in our Boston headquarters several days per week.

We are looking for a dedicated Software Engineer with a focus on Full Stack development to join the Marketing Technology team. This team is responsible for building Wayfair's class leading, data centric technology platform that optimizes and powers all of Wayfair's advertising. It touches hundreds of millions of consumers and drives billions of dollars in annual revenue. Our platforms allow us to scale our marketing efforts efficiently by automating key processes, interacting with ad platforms such as Google, Meta, Pinterest & others in real time and leveraging hundreds of terabytes of data and ML algorithms for optimization and effective decision making on millions of items in our catalog.

What You Will Do:
- Design and develop systems that are built to industry best practices, including observability, architectural patterns, and inter-team dependency mechanisms (like SLOs)
- Write code to implement high-quality, scalable, future-proof services that will have effective system boundaries
- Work closely with product managers, marketers, and peers to define requirements and execution plans
- Participate in team planning and delivery meetings in a way that actively supports the goals and success of the team
- Contribute to continuously improving the overall quality of our systems, processes and codebase
- Cultivate a deep understanding of how your systems impact Wayfair’s customers, field associates, and other systems
What you bring to the table
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and designing and building large-scale, cloud-based systems across various projects
- Experience operating distributed services at scale, including familiarity with observability tools, logging techniques, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Proficiency in either Java (strongly preferred) or Python
- Experience with an asynchronous event streaming platform, message queue, or similar (we use Kafka)
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL datastores (we use Postgresql and Google Big Query)
- Strong analytical skills with hypothesis driven problem solving and turning data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving teams forward and ability to influence decisions
- Demonstrated ability to always be learning and improving yourself and others
Nice to Have
- Experience with a front end framework is a nice to have (we use ReactJS and TypeScript)
