Responsibilities

CHI St. Alexius is looking for a Full Time Operating Room Surgery Scheduler to join the team!

The Surgery Scheduler works under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator.  Provides and performs secretarial, receptionist and scheduling services associated with the overall operation of Surgical Services in accordance with the mission and philosophy of St. Alexius Medical Center.   All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Medical Center.

What You'll Do:

•        Answers telephone promptly using proper phone etiquette.
•        Maintains accurate and current surgery schedule.
•        Communicates with Clinical Coordinator/Controller changes in the surgery schedule.                              
•        Provides assistance to physicians, patients, family members, visitors and staff as necessary.
•       Confers with OR Controller regarding room scheduling, block assignments, add-on cases, physician questions and concerns.
•       Adheres to St. Alexius Medical Center mission, values, and Journey Beyond Excellence expectation to foster a compassionate, healing environment providing                physiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors. 

Qualifications

Education: High School student, graduate or equivalent.                                                                                    

Licensure: None

Experience: No previous experience required.

Skills: Computer ability, telephone proficiency/etiquette, basic office/receptionist skills.                                                                                        

Interpersonal Skills: Good Communication skills necessary because of constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors and medical center staff.
