Summary of Job Duties:

The Senior Budget Manager is responsible for directing analysis and review of summary budget vs. actual activities to ensure expenses and revenue are coded correctly. They are charged with supervision of Budget Manager and Staff to ensure budgetary dollars are allocated correctly and transactions related to overall budget review are processed timely. This position will be a primary point of contact with central budget to complete annual budget responsibilities such as All Sources, Position budgets, and other system needs as directed. This manager will coordinate the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and meet with Unit directors to review performance to budget trends and discuss annual budget needs for review with Chief Business Officer. The Senior Manager will analyze and update the Facilities Management budget model to ensure accurate summary reporting and work to devise new budget reporting tools and reports to assist departmental directors. This position will work closely with other managers and administrators of FAMA systems to ensure coding, charges and all transactions flow smoothly from FAMIS to Workday and other duties as assigned.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of experience in accounting, budgetary or business office role

  • At least two years Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Excel to pull data and manipulate for reporting

  • At least three years Higher Education experience establishing resource budgets/accounting at the departmental level

  • At least two years experience with ERP systems such as Workday and Data Warehouses - producing reporting and analysis provided for decision makers/management

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Certification in Accounting or Finance or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of fund, cost and financial accounting principles with the ability to summarize and report key information to Managers

  • Ability to understand and complete budget trends and run rates to project future year needs

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic resource planning

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

  • Ability to considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one

  • Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities and to assign and direct the work of subordinate supervisors

  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers

  • Intermediate to Advanced skill in Microsoft office product use - including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project

  • Knowledge and understanding of Maintenance and work order management systems

  • Knowledge of procurement processes such as requisitions, purchase orders and other AP transactions

  • Ability to manage cross-functional team to meet unit goals for process improvement
