Summary of Job Duties:

Serving as the Division’s Research Services Specialist under the supervision of the Coordinator of Research Services, this position assists researchers in their use of Special Collections materials, both on-site and virtually; maintains Reading Room security; coordinates filling requests for duplication; and responds to researcher inquiries. This position serves as lead support staff in the Special Collections reading room and assists with hiring and training part-time employees, retrieves and shelves requested archival and print materials, and coordinates duplication services requested by researchers. This position also coordinates requests and storage of materials between off-site storage and the reading room and classroom facilities in the main library. This position plays an active role in supporting the Division’s use of an online researcher registration and request platform through assisting researchers as they place requests.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.

  • At least three years of experience in library customer services or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant archives, special collections, museum, or library work experience
  • Academic research experience
  • Experience using web-based content management or inventory control systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills 
  • Familiarity with library search strategies and resources 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail  
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and use new technology resources effectively 
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
