Director of Finance Operations for the Mount Carmel College of Nursing
Position Purpose:
The Director - Finance is responsible for serving a primary point of contact for organizational finance needs. This position oversees and ensures the enhancement and development of accurate financial data and information in order to improve the organization's financial performance. The Director - Finance advises organizational leaders through interpretation of complex financial
information to assist in the decision-making processes with a focus on bottom-line performance improvement through active participation as a member of the Hospital/Systems Leadership Team. This position provides guidance, mentoring and management support to department managers/associates and requires strong analytical and conceptual skills, as well as possess a thorough understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care financial operations. The Director - Finance is expected to organize resources, provide leadership and achieve results in a project oriented and fast paced setting. The utilization of strong and sound business acumen while possessing the ability to communicate effectively, discuss financial related matters with diverse groups, prepare oral and written reports and maintain a high level of confidentiality when required is key to this position.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field; Master's Degree in Business Administration and/or Health Administration required or working towards
· Licensure / Certification: CPA preferred
· Experience: Seven or more years of experience in healthcare with demonstrable organizational experience in the hospital finance setting related to analysis, accounting, and operations. Supervisory experience required with a minimum of five years of progressively challenging management experience in effectively exercising supervisory responsibilities in a complex healthcare organization.
· Effective Communication Skills
· Thorough understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care financial operations and thorough understanding of healthcare finance applications.
· Extremely proficient with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
· Ability to organize, plan and direct staff and manage the financial activities of a large financial services department while maintaining a strategic perspective.
· Acts as Controller of individual business entities.
· Ability to provide advice, guidance and mentorship to lower levels of management in a manner that enhances leadership skills.
· Ability to mentor staff and to provide leadership in a team building environment to enhance cooperation with our internal and external customers.
· Demonstrates strong project management skills with proven success at managing large-scale projects working independently and leading projects through to completion in required, tightened timeframes while maintaining a strategic perspective.
· Demonstrates the ability to organize and to prioritize work in a diverse, fast paced environment while working on multiple projects simultaneously and complete assignments according to established timelines.
· Ability to organize and work independently with a high level of motivation and initiative while being entrepreneurial, creative and results oriented and must possess proactive orientation with a willingness to take managed risks.
· Demonstrates the ability to understand and interpret complex issues and processes and to recommend actions related to financial operations resulting in financial improvement and/or operations compliance and/or enhancement.
· Ability to create/design and present information in a presentation format that translates technical financial terminology into terms understandable to leadership, associates, and external customers.
· Ability to work with all levels of management and associates within the organization and the home office as well as external customers utilizing good listening skills and interpreting end users’ needs.
· Demonstrates high trust and integrity when dealing with confidential matters.
