- Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS), permitting software, SketchUp or 3D design tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to analyze program demands and propose enhancements
Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, train, motivate, and coordinate a team of 7-12 staff including planners and examiners.
- Facilitate and manage city boards and commissions including City Plan Commission and Urban Design Commission.
- Explain city planning ordinances, design policies, and procedures to boards, developers, and the public.
- Make presentations to staff, boards, neighborhoods, and City Council.
- Develop and implement annual work programs, goals, and policies.
- Evaluate team effectiveness and promote continuous improvement.
- Perform administrative personnel duties including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and discipline.
Education
- Master’s Degree in Planning, Architecture, Urban Planning or Design, Public Administration, Urban Geography, or related field
