The Retail Area Operations Manager, NJ is responsible for the overview, creation, standardization, and execution of all retail operations policies and procedures within the market. This role works and reports to the Director of Retail, Northeast, as well as partners directly with accounting, compliance, procurement, operations, and other internal departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with business partners to plan, create, implement, and execute operational procedures and SOPs within the market.
  • Ensure all operational procedures and workflows are being achieved and delivered to set expectations.
  • Build, inspire, and develop a high-performing team that fosters employee engagement and teamwork.
  • Define, prioritize, and implement strategy to drive results and outcomes to achieve company targets and objectives.
  • Create and deliver a culture of accountability within market-level operational executables and KPIs.
  • Serve as the market expert in inventory and sales systems for dispensaries within the market.
  • Monitor inventory levels, receiving, and count processes for adjustment accuracy, count completion, documentation, and timeliness with regards to accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
  • Participate and contribute with business partners to make or adjust product line decisions based on market trends.
  • Work closely with Finance, Internal Control, Procurement, and Purchasing Coordinators to maintain alignment of the company’s ERP system.
  • Actively search for process and system improvements and partner with departments to improve the end user experience.
  • Analyze financial reports and identify areas of opportunity to optimize operations within the market.


Experience & Requirements:
  • 2+ years of cannabis industry experience
  • 3+ years of multi-unit retail management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Metrc and cannabis point-of-sale platforms
  • Working knowledge of Excel and other analytics software systems such as PowerBI
  • Experience with inventory audits and month-end reporting processes
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, set priorities, hold self and others accountable, and meet deadlines
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and proven ability to positively influence people; must be capable of effectively interacting at all levels of the organization
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on process optimization; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage high-stress situations, and remain flexible and adaptable when needed
  • Accurate, self-starting, and a strong troubleshooter with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks under competing deadlines
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong business acumen
  • Must be flexible with dispensary operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Required to travel within the market 50%–75% of the time for store visits and other job-related duties
