The Financial Specialist I, under supervision, provides clerical, accounting, and customer service support duties. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Responsibilities:
30% Receives, verifies and prepares receipts of funds collected for the university including student fees, departmental deposits, returned checks, and credit card payment processing. Follows cash receipt policy guidelines as required by Tarleton State University Cash Handling Procedures and Texas A&M University System cash handling policies and procedures.
30% Provides customer service to students, parents, departments, and agencies regarding student accounts. Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of all aspects of student accounts. Effectively respond to emails, phone calls, and walk-ins.
20% Responsible for imaging, indexing and filing documents including receipts, checks and other important documents required for retention. Also responsible for verifying, scanning and submission of checks for deposit at Wells Fargo.
10% Researches problems and discrepancies.
5% Responsible for balancing cash drawer and completing end of day processes.
5% Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Four years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills.
The target base base hourly compensation is $18.03 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
