The Academic Success Coach I assesses student academic need and creates educational plans. Coordinates academic and tutoring services for a caseload of 50 Tarleton students. Monitors academic progress of participants, providing intervention and advocacy when needed. Develops educational workshops and resources.
This position is located on-site at the Tarleton State University Stephenville campus. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or as work requirements indicate; with occasional evening and Saturday events.
Responsibilities:
40% Provide academic advising, needs assessment, and academic monitoring to 50 participants
40% Conduct workshops on topics including academic success, financial literacy, career preparation, and graduate school preparation
20% Oversee tutoring services
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and organizational skills;
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Innovation to provide educational services during challenging times.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience working with first-generation, low-income students is preferred.
Knowledge of postsecondary admission and financial aid processes is preferred.
Experience monitoring and documenting academic progress of students is preferred.
Preference may be given to candidates who have demonstrated success in overcoming barriers similar to those encountered by low-income, first-generation students.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $41,000 to $50,761 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
