- Mechanical design and hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Ability to design, build, test, and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
- Experience with fluid, gas, or high voltage systems.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical devices such as actuators, valves, regulators, and gear trains.
- Understanding of fluid systems and solid mechanics principles.
- Proficiency in test instrumentation and control components (pressure transducers, thermocouples, relays, solenoid valves, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturable flow control devices and mechanisms for Starship and Super Heavy systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, production, testing, and supply chain teams to enhance component build rate and factory yield.
- Create and maintain detailed drawings, specifications, analyses, and risk assessments.
- Lead root cause investigations for development, production, test, integration, and launch issues and implement corrective actions.
- Establish rigorous design and qualification testing standards to minimize in-flight anomalies and production delays.
- Serve as chief engineer collaborating on vehicle architecture to optimize component design and reduce payload costs.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering discipline.
