Riot Hospitality Group is seeking a results-driven, hands-on Controller to lead the Accounting function across all of our locations in Arizona, Colorado and Tennessee!

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and reporting, experience in multi-unit operations, and a mindset for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement. This is a high-impact leadership role that blends financial rigor with agility, supporting both the executive team and store-level operations. We're searching for a candidate who can: 

  • Direct day-to-day accounting operations for a 5-person team, encompassing general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple locations and legal entities.
  • Manage and execute mid-period, period-end and year-end close processes to deliver timely and accurate financial statements; lead P&L variance analysis and facilitate P&L meetings with Operations leadership.
  • Lead cash management processes, including treasury functions and weekly reconciliation processes for all bank accounts, tip payments and credit card activity.
  • Oversee monthly processes related to corporate allocations, management fees and other billings, including accurate and timely calculations, invoicing, payment and collection.
  • Manage accounts payable processes, including timely coding, processing and payment of invoices.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of sales and use tax returns across all locations.
  • Serve as a liaison with an external accounting firm for year-end audit and tax reporting.
  • Establish, monitor, implement and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Hire, manage and develop the accounting team, including timely feedback and evaluations.
  • Evaluate current financial systems, processes and procedures to identify improvement opportunities with a focus on simplification, standardization and optimization.
  • Drive reduction of close timeline by assessing and streamlining close-related activities.
  • Assist in assessing the impact from and implement required changes to systems, process, policies and procedures due to new accounting standards, regulatory changes, changes in business strategy, cross-departmental initiatives and other operational changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industries.
  • Proven track record of managing teams and increasing responsibility within an accounting department.
  • Mix of public accounting/industry experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Strong financial systems and Excel knowledge; hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and Stampli a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, efficient, self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvements.
  • Results-oriented with impeccable integrity with an emphasis on both individual and team accountability; ability to delegate and supervise as well as perform hands-on tasks, as needed.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with both monthly calendar and 13 fiscal period accounting close processes
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and informal communication skills.
