Principal Associate Scientist, Cancer Biology

Why join us?

Parabilis Medicines is a highly distinctive young biopharmaceutical company whose intention is to grow over time into the ranks of major therapeutics companies.  Our foundational platform of Helicon™ therapeutics are peptides capable of efficient cell entry and modulation of both protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Through Helicon therapeutics, Parabilis is poised to revolutionize the medical possibilities for patients by precisely drugging intracellular targets long understood to be significant drivers of disease but never before drugged due to the limitations of existing drug modalities to act within the cell.

An important distinctive element of Parabilis is our lead program FOG-001, the company’s first-in-class TCF-blocking β-catenin inhibitor.  This compound is approximately 18 months and ~50 patients into our early development program for patients with advanced solid tumors, most importantly colorectal cancer. There are few products in the ecosystem with the medical and economic potential of FOG-001. Parabilis is fully leveraging the unprecedented potential Helicons present by deploying proprietary, custom-built machine learning and computational methods as part of its discovery and development process. Parabilis Medicines has raised more than $500 million to date from leading life sciences investors. Parabilis Medicines is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.

What’s the opportunity?

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Associate Scientist with experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques for drug discovery. In this role, you will have opportunities to characterize different cellular activities for our novel HeliconTM peptides and help us develop this new drug modality for cancer and other diseases with unmet medical needs. Ideal candidates will be energetic and passionate, with a breadth of cell-based assay and molecular biology experience, along with a demonstrated ability to drive and deliver results, and an interest in working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As part of this role, you will:

  • Develop and perform cellular and molecular biology assays for intracellular targets to screen and evaluate drug activity and mechanism of action
  • Contribute to transition of lead helicons to development candidate status and IND-enabling experimentation
  • Accurately record, analyze, and present data to team and company leadership
  • Collaborate across functional teams to efficiently identify drug candidates and move them to the clinic
  • Contribute to, and be a part of, an exciting and dedicated group of people pushing the forefront of oncology therapeutics

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • BS. or M.S. in cancer biology or related field with 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in a broad range of biochemical, molecular and cellular techniques including (but not limited to): mammalian cell culture, western blotting, qPCR, transfection, flow cytometry etc.
  • Hands-on experience developing and performing biochemical and cell-based assays such as HTRF/AlphaLISA/MSD/NanoBRET/HiBiT is required
  • Hands-on experience in performing high-throughput screening using cellular readouts is required
  • Experience with data upload and organization onto a data management system such as Dotmatics is required
  • Hands-on experience with CRISPR and/or RNAi to evaluate gene function is required
  • Hands-on experience with immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy is preferred
  • Experience in managing relationships with collaborators or CROs is required
  • Innovative, creative, inquisitive, motivated researcher with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven track record of publications
  • Able to work on-site and attend in-person meetings
