Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Vice President, Corporate Communications will be responsible for supporting the planning, and developing of the overall strategic direction and execution of the Versant Corporate Communications function reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this opportunity requires an experienced communications strategist who embraces fast pace, new and stimulating challenges, and who will help position Versant as a global leader.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the strategic direction and delivery of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility plans and campaigns
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key leaders
  • Forge a strategic partnership within communications group, reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, on issues management, messaging and positioning relating to CSR activities.  
  • Help oversee preparation of digital communications, including social media, website, photography and story write ups
  • Work with various divisions across the portfolio, with specific partnership with the marketing function.
  • Shape proactive, compelling corporate-level storytelling and related content, including for major strategic initiatives, and drive communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the Versant brand reputation. Look for creative opportunities to utilize new media for strategic positioning of Versant.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate communications, strategy and execution
  • Proven successful track record managing both messaging and brand reputation, with the ability to establish innovative strategies and effectively execute to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Fluent in digital communication mediums and multi-channel communications strategies
  • Track record of successfully dealing with influential national and global media, influencers and bloggers
  • Proven competence in dealing with sensitive or controversial matters on a frequent and recurring basis; ability to exercise highest level of discretion
  • Strong leader and persuasive communicator with a vision; proven ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as collaboratively and motivate and inspire a team
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills, a strong attention to details, with the ability to grasp and translate complex and disparate ideas into a cohesive editorial with clear key messaging
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and varying priorities to maintain alignment on vision, strategy and performance to goals; demonstrated capability in conflict resolution with tact and diplomacy
  • Able to handle multiple concurrent, often conflicting priorities

  • This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.   • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.
