Design Phase Manager

M. A. Mortenson Company seeks a full-time Design Phase Manager in Kirkland, WA. The Design Phase Manager provides advanced project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design, and planning to ensure a smooth transition to construction operations. 

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field plus four (4) years of related experience in the construction industry and/or architecture. Alternatively, this position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field plus six (6) years progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the construction industry and/or architecture. Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) establishing and managing project budget for construction project of at least $25 million total contract value; (2) leading the production of full scope general contractor estimates on ground-up construction project of at least $100 million total contract value; (3) managing design development of progressive design-build project where the architecture and engineering disciplines are contracted to the general contractor; (4) managing diverse business contracting requirements for construction project, including the identification of qualified businesses based on client and jurisdictional requirements, the solicitation of bids, scope reconciliation, and the awarding of contracts; and (5) managing project cost history data utilizing EOS Cortex. All experience may have been gained concurrently. Will accept experience gained before, during, or after Master’s program. Position requires domestic travel up to 10% of the time. The base pay range for this role is $163,072 - $182,700.

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
