Job Summary:
The Security Manager is responsible to oversee daily operations within the department, managing staff, optimizing workflows, and ensuring teams goals are met effectively to support organizational objectives. This role assists the VP Corporate Security and Emergency Management to implement physical security policies and procedures across the Organization and to oversee the administration and maintenance of all LUMA’s security functions to include contracts, operations and processes, including but not limited to supervise Security Specialists.Job Description:
Implements physical security policies and procedures, including but not limited to, the physical security of all LUMA’s employees, property and assets owned, operated, or maintained, internal investigations, & executive protection, contract security guard management, and crisis management. - Evaluate improvement recommendations regarding vulnerabilities, security gaps and risks in LUMA’s physical security functions, operations and procedures and suggests action plans to the immediate Supervisor.
Implements review plans of existing physical security programs and initiates the development of new programs, as needed, at all facilities island wide.
Executes or oversees security actions plans to include those related to employees and contracted guard force.
Provides training to personnel at all levels related to LUMA’s security programs focused on protection of people and assets. Drafts and/or reviews and approves security event reports including recording observations, gathering information, analyzing surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, etc.
Makes recommendations regarding appropriate, practical, timely and necessary physical security improvements or enhancements.
Maintains close communication with Security Specialists, Team Leaders and/or Supervisor regarding any security matter that arises from activities within LUMA, as necessary.
Provides guidance, directions and leadership to Team Leaders and Security Specialists in daily activities.
Collaborates with the VP, Corporate Security and Emergency Management to increase LUMA employee knowledge, understanding, capability and engagement on security matters.
Oversees and manages physical security assessments focused on theft prevention.
Maintains an updated knowledge of new physical security trends and processes as they arise.
Follows all policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Performs emergency management and major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in industrial security, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or security related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related area such as security or law enforcement in Puerto Rico or federal agencies including 5 or more years of supervisory experience of security personnel.
Preferred:
Or Master’s degree in industrial security, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or security related field and a minimum of 6 years of experience in a related area such as security or law enforcement in Puerto Rico or federal agencies, including 3 or more years of supervisory experience of security personnel.
Skills & Competencies:
Outstanding knowledge and understanding of Puerto Rico and federal law enforcement agencies and relevant laws and regulations.
Strong analytical, attention to detail, and problem -solving skills with the ability to effectively ascertain and understand all relevant facts and business processes to support thorough analyses of security issues.
Proficiency in MS Office programs such as, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
Outstanding Knowledge on established internal and external investigations procedures and methodologies.
Fluent in the English and Spanish languages (read, speak and write) with the ability to communicate effective and promptly in either language as required.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization and with external parties as required.
