Staff Engineer, Distributed Systems
Skills
- Expertise in designing and operating large-scale distributed backend and infrastructure services.
- Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming protocols such as Server-Sent Events and WebSockets.
- Proficient in Go, Java, Rust, or similar systems programming languages.
- Experience with real-time data pipelines, load balancing, and global edge networks or CDNs.
- Skilled in monitoring, observability tooling, and operational excellence with telemetry and alerting.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience managing distributed data stores and caching systems like Redis, DynamoDB, Kafka, and Varnish.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build resilient and scalable global feature flag delivery systems optimized for low latency and high availability.
- Own and evolve core components including edge delivery network, streaming infrastructure, and data synchronization.
- Drive system performance improvements, operational excellence, and failure-resilient design.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, SDK, product, and security teams to ensure seamless and secure customer experiences.
- Mentor engineers, model best practices, and lead by example in distributed systems development.
- Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, and participate in on-call rotations to maintain system reliability.
Education
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
