Position: Chief Inspector

Reports to: Project Manager


General Qualities:

- Qualified Chief Inspector with extensive experience in civil, highway, or related engineering fields. 

- The ideal candidate will lead inspection efforts and oversee construction activities related to highways, bridges, rail, and other infrastructure projects.


Technical Responsibilities:

- Supervise and manage construction inspection teams.

- Ensure work conforms to project specifications, standards, and regulations.

- Conduct field inspections and maintain comprehensive project records.

- Prepare reports, correspondence, and recommendations regarding construction progress and issues.

- Coordinate effectively with contractors, agencies, and project stakeholders.

- Provide technical guidance on construction practices and procedures. 

- In-depth knowledge of construction standards and inspection protocols.

- Strong communication and leadership skills.

- Proven ability to manage documentation, reports, and stakeholder coordination.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

- NICET Level III Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction required, or Professional Engineer (PE) license registered in the State of Connecticut.

- Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil, highway, or relevant engineering.

- At least 2 years must be in a supervisory role involving highway, bridge, rail, or facilities construction.

- At least 2 years must include field inspection experience.

- Actively participates in professional development and training and licensing.
