Job Description:
The Manager of Project Management provides leadership to a team of project managers and ensures projects and initiatives are implemented according to expectations in collaboration with other operational areas and in alignment with organizational objectives. This role is responsible for developing team members and identifying and aligning strengths within the team to deliver optimal outcomes. This role promotes best practices and works to deliver project management value to the organization by providing leadership with transparency into projects and initiatives, bringing value in project execution to the business. As an operational leader, this position is accountable for driving a culture of safety, accountability and engagement by: Ensuring work focuses on patient safety, creating a positive work environment, celebrating team's successes, developing new leaders and leading by example.

The role is hybrid and will require travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business. Candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana and are within a reasonable commuting distance to an Intermountain Health care site are preferred. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.
Scope
The position works closely with Intermountain's leaders and strategic partners (e.g., Cerner, DXC, R1, 3M, Informatica, Aesynt-Omnicell, etc.) This is a leadership role with responsibilities that include managing budgets and financial assets to achieve financial objectives and overseeing human resource management and staff training for the department. Approximately half of the day to day work is spent managing the work of the team rather than participating in the technical delivery of the work, however this role will also serve as the PM for highly complex projects. Those on the team include skilled professionals who manage system-wide or local projects as assigned.
Job Essentials
1. Provides direction on essential project deliverables to ensure efficiency and results.
2. Ensures proper monitoring and reporting of project deliverables and outcomes
3. Understands vision and objectives in order to be able to align team resources appropriately.
4. Responsible to lead the team to complete complex projects on-time and under budget.
5. Creates and maintains staffing plans to support the current and future work demands and project deliverables and plans for and assigns resources to optimize capacity (capacity planning) and facilitates resource allocation across multiple business lines and functional areas.
6. Acts as liaison between business owners, executives, and the Project Management team
7. Ensures proper usage and compliance with tools, systems, processes and governance
8. Evaluates latest trends and innovations in project management and adjusts to meet the needs of the business
9. Responsible for team performance and KPIs. Monitors and reports project results.
10. Attracts, develops and maintains top talent to continually raise the bar on the capabilities and deliverables of the organization. Facilitates skill development and improvement of project managers.
11. Mentors and coaches managers/supervisors and other team members and ensures that there is an adequate management succession plan in place. Builds a winning culture with a repeatable, process-based approach that recognizes the interdependence of all key stakeholders in the solutions delivery process.
12. Assists in annual budget process. Responsible to plan and manage the daily operations of a project management team within the parameters of their departmental operating and capital budgets.
13. Participates in the definition of the overall Intermountain quality standards and best practices. Ensures that teams are compliant with these standards.
14. Responsible for directing the work of employees for area of responsibility, including staffing, goal setting, coaching and mentoring, employee recognition, engagement and training, and performance management which includes addressing performance concerns through corrective action.
15. Manages customer, stakeholder, and vendor relationships and expectations. Focuses on solutions and strategies that create win / win situations both inside and outside of the organization.
16. Regularly communicates with staff through huddles, team meetings, individual one on one meetings, rounding and skip level interviews as appropriate, and manages resource allocation to projects to ensure timely delivery within budget and according to requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, clinical or allied health, computer science, information management or other technical field and seven years of experience in multiple I.S. disciplines with four years of project management experience
-OR- Master's Degree in business, clinical or allied health, computer science, information management or other technical field and five years of experience in multiple I.S. disciplines with four years of Project Management experience. (Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education or experience is verified.)
PM certification (PMP, Agile, Scrum Master)
Experience in a role requiring a strong customer service / customer-oriented mindset, as well as coaching and mentoring skills needed to influence stakeholders (e.g., physicians, nurses)
Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills, to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and to work closely with clinical and business stakeholders toward desired outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make effective decisions.
Demonstrated ability to build strong teams to complete complex projects and to lead caregivers and teams outside of span of control.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Demonstrated results orientation, initiative, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
Experience using word processing, advanced or complex spreadsheet and database applications, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications, as well as computerized tracking systems.
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Information
This is an exempt, full-time position. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition into our organization, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
