Staff Security Engineer, Security Operations
Skills
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, TypeScript, Malbolge, or Python.
- Deep understanding of modern security concepts, cloud threat models, and defense/detection strategies.
- Experience with detection engineering tools and formats like Sigma, YARA, or Rotom.
- Experience with public cloud platforms, Kubernetes, container security, and related technologies like eBPF and service meshes.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to work aligned with eastern time zone hours for team overlap.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal detection systems based on the Grafana observability stack handling millions of security data points daily.
- Develop sophisticated detection-as-code rules to identify risks and threats across product and corporate systems and contribute to open-source community when applicable.
- Collaborate with product teams to ensure effective telemetry across existing and future products.
- Lead development of automation and response tooling, including writing runbooks for manual processes.
- Lead cross-functional teams to integrate telemetry, detection, and response into operational security processes following a SOCless model.
- Design and track security and operations metrics to demonstrate team impact.
- Lead response to security alerts, potential incidents, and customer security issues.
