We are seeking a VP of Product Strategy who will be instrumental in driving the New York Post’s Digital Products and will be accountable for achieving transformational plans to achieve product and audience growth goals. This high-impact role requires an experienced strategic visionary with demonstrable skills of leading cross-functional teams, driving product excellence and innovation, and fostering in a dynamic digital environment.
The VP of Product will own the critical role of driving product excellence across the network along with the CTO and SVP of Digital Strategy.
Accountabilities include:
Drive Product Excellence and User Growth: Collaborate with senior executives and critical cross-functional teams to develop and implement initiatives and strategies that enhance product quality and accelerate growth across the New York Post’s digital portfolio.
Wired in:
You will set the direction and ensure success of products across the Post network, including supporting off-platform distribution such as Newsbreak, Apple News, Smart News, Social, etc. It is critical that our VP of Product is a student of the industry and understands the market and digital landscape to ensure the New York Post remains competitive.
Leadership:
Lead and inspire a team of internal and external product managers, including stakeholders who look to the team for expertise and product guidance. Provide mentorship, strategic direction, and support to ensure the team achieves its objectives and contributes to the success of launches and the organization as a whole.
Strategic Initiatives:
Lead product operations and ad-hoc (strategic and operational) initiatives by crafting detailed project plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data with support from Data Labs, conducting thorough analyses, and developing actionable insights. Act as the evangelist for NYP’s consumer products. Establish new operating workflows when necessary to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Don’t follow- lead.
Accountability and Ownership:
You must own and refine in real-time the product roadmap by partnering with direct reports, Engineering, Design, UX, and other key stakeholders. Own the creation and communication of the product roadmap. Ensure strategies are aligned with business objectives and user needs alike, ensuring they drive measurable outcomes (key focus). This requires continuous effort and negotiation, and constant follow-through with all parties involved.
Budget and KPIs:
You will take full ownership of budget development and management, along with the establishment of OKRs. Lead the planning process, ensuring accountability and alignment, while overseeing the creation and tracking of KPIs to drive performance.
User Acquisition and Engagement:
Collaborate with key stakeholders, Audience, Marketing, Data, and Revenue Ops teams to develop and execute high-impact strategies for user acquisition, engagement, and recirculation. Optimize resource allocation and budget management to maximize ROI and drive sustainable growth.
Technical Skills:
● Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Kanban
● Jira, GitHub workflows
● Understand CI/CD, sprint planning, QA cycles, and release readiness
● Familiar with Design Prototyping tools, UX Frameworks, and Multivariate Testing tools
● Expert product knowledge in CMS, Web (Wordpress VIP), app, newsletter, video, AI and industry trends.
Non-Technical Skills:
● Strategy & Financial Acumen - Connect roadmap to revenue, margins, TAM; conduct bi-annual job analysis to ensure alignment with business priorities.
● Familiarity with market sizing & opportunity analysis.
● Prioritization - Drive alignment through clear value frameworks.
● Communication & Influence: Effectively and frequently engage and influence stakeholders to ensure alignment. Utilize clear messaging and active listening to build relationships and facilitate collaboration among teams.
● Go-to-market & monetization: Propel user adoption, enhance retention, and maximize revenue generation.
● Vendor & Partner Management, Selection and Negotiation. For example but not limited to the responsibilities below:
○ RFP/RFI Process: Develop and manage structured vendor evaluation processes including developing the scoring criteria, and use-case scenarios for decisioning.
○ Relationship Management: Maintain ongoing communication with vendors and partners to ensure alignment with business goals, SLAs, and expectations.
The candidate must have 10 plus years experience managing high performing product teams preferably in the field of media and entertainment.
Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This position would be expected to come into the office a minimum of 3 days per week (subject to change).

Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work. Accordingly, offers extended for this role will include an annual bonus target typically expressed as a percentage of salary. Similarly to salary, set annual incentive bonus targets are based on a variety of factors, including competitive market practice, experience, tenure, and essential skills.
