Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Transportation (Highway/City Street) Project Engineer for its New York, NY office. The team player we seek must have a BS/MS degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering and 5-7 years of design experience on NYSDOT, NYCDOT and NYCDDC projects or similar public agency/municipal projects. The candidate will be responsible for the production of design plans, project specifications and report preparation.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact in a project design team environment is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare contract plan packages, approval documents, and analyses in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Lead design tasks such as roadway geometry, management, maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT)  scheme, stormwater management and drainage, etc. and provide technical guidance to junior engineer and technical staff.
  • Assists Project Manager as a point of contact for day-to-day project coordination items.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • 5-7 years experience in transportation, highway and street design, or closely related engineering 
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years related experience in general civil engineering with an emphasis on highway/roadway design, as well as stormwater management/watershed analysis.
  • Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) required
  • NY Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
  • Understanding of civil engineering principles with experience in highway/roadway engineering, site grading, drainage and utility design, stormwater management, maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) .
  • Experience with New York (city, state, and local) agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCT, TBTA, NYCDDC is a plus.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical drawings and identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD with Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRodas, Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Studio.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple assignments in a dynamic company environment.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position.  A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $112,000-$125,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
