While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
The SEC Reporting team handles the quarterly and annual filing of the Company’s 10Q/K as well as the corresponding quarterly earnings release. As a senior member of the team, we are looking for an experienced SEC Reporting Senior Analyst who can lead with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. This role requires a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, oversee complex reporting dynamics, and drive strategic improvements in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Help lead the preparation and filing of SEC documents, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP.
- Drive strategically aligned disclosure initiatives, including benchmarking analyses and industry peer research to support management’s objectives while meeting SEC requirements.
- Take primary ownership of coordinating and managing the MD&A drafting process, including working with various stakeholders on drafting the overall story with quality support.
- Assist in coordinating data requests and analysis for internal and external auditors.
- Support the SEC Reporting team in meeting deadlines and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financials along with associated slides for executive financial review meetings.
- Follow SOX controls and ensure all documentation is in accordance with SOX documentation standards.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including corporate controllership, investor relations, FP&A, tax, and legal.
- Support and/or lead finance process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, including through the use of Company sponsored AI tools.
- Participate in and/or lead additional projects impacting financial reporting by working with cross-functional teams.
- Help lead and mentor junior team members to foster continuous professional growth within the team.
- Assist with review of certain lower risk disclosures and support files.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- CPA license, or equivalent, required
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant industry experience; recent or current involvement in public-company SEC financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and disclosure requirements under US GAAP and SEC regulations as well as SOX 404 controls.
- Solid experience with reporting tools and financial systems such as NetSuite and Workiva (WDesk).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization, project management, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including strong prioritization and time management skills and adaptability.
- Excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently, coordinate the efforts of others, and work well with people at a wide range of levels across the organization.
- An eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a growing company.
- Positive attitude and energy, including through challenges.
- Highest integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of material non-public information.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with audit or accounting in Big 4 firms.
- Exposure to Financial Institutions or Fintech industries.
- Experience drafting the MD&A a plus.
