The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking an Associate Software Engineer-Artificial Intelligence to join the KC-46 Aerial Refueling Software team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The selected candidate will be part of the Autonomous Air to Air Refueling (A3R) team focused on concept, requirements, architecture, design, and development of boom automation.

Position Responsibilities:
Assists with the design, development, documentation, and implementation of appropriate and best-fit Artificial Intelligence algorithms and models using standard methods and tools considering ethical implications and potential biases
Supports in the collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and analysis of large datasets to ensure data quality, reliability, and identification of patterns, trends, and insights
Supports testing, documentation, and debugging of Artificial Intelligence models and software systems
Supports training, evaluating, and optimization of performance and capabilities of Artificial Intelligence models
Supports integration and deployment of efficient and scalable Artificial Intelligence models into production environments
Assists with monitoring, validating, and improving in-production Artificial Intelligence models
Participates with cross-functional teams and domain experts to understand business requirements, gather feedback, and iterate Artificial Intelligence models and algorithms
Supports research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulations in the engineering Artificial Intelligence environment and contributes to Artificial Design Practice(s)
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
2+ years of experience in Python, C++
2+ years of experience in Linux, Windows
2+ years of experience in Machine Learning
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
2+ years of experience in PyTorch, OpenCV, Plotly
Ability to design and implement artificial intelligence models, algorithms, and methods (such as Bayesian inference/reasoning, reasoning under uncertainty, and state estimation) that control complex systems that exhibit dynamic behavior over time
These systems can include physical systems, biological systems, economic systems, and more
Knowledge of AI Hardware Acceleration concepts and applications
Knowledge of software for optimization of AI models on specific hardware
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL. Knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques (probability, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, etc.)
Ability to organize and curate data. Ability to apply techniques for data cleaning, preprocessing, and handling of missing values. Knowledge of object data stores and data lakes
Ability to design and implement learning algorithms based on deep neural networks
Knowledge of activities such as training deep learning models, developing evaluation measures, and optimizing model hyperparameters
Knowledge of programming language skills, data structures, algorithms, data modeling and evaluation skills, and natural language processing (NLP) skills
Ability to turn prototype code into production code and deploy it in a virtualized cloud environment
Broad working knowledge and understanding of Machine Learning – an application of artificial intelligence that enables systems to learn and improve from experience focusing on the use of data and algorithms to gradually improving its accuracy
Ability to integrate machine learning with data engineering and to automate the lifecycle of machine learning models. It includes designing, training, testing, deploying and monitoring of models, ensuring scalability, efficiency and reproducibility in production applications
