About the role

We’re looking for a senior/staff level designer to lead all things design at Anara.

This is an opportunity to reinvent how scientists discover information and work together. You’ll build the foundation of a design culture that will impact scientific research for decades to come.

What you’ll be doing:

• Talk to users, translate these conversations into product features, improvements and fixes, work with engineering to get them shipped, repeat.

• Build the design team as we scale, including hiring, establishing design processes, and fostering a culture of rapid iteration and excellence.

• Own all aspects of our visual identity across product, marketing, socials and brand.

• Define and implement design systems, documentation practices and workflows that help the team build visually consistent, high-quality features quickly.

You’re likely a good fit if:

• You are quick, scrappy and first and foremost a hacker/builder. Design at Anara is lightning fast - we typically take features from idea to high-fidelity design in days, not weeks or months.

• You’ve spent at least a few years shipping complex but beautiful features to real users.

• You live and breathe pixels with excellent taste for well-crafted interaction design and UI details.

• You have worked in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (ideally another startup) and can drive things forward with relatively little oversight.

We’re based in San Francisco with members of the team distributed across the US and Europe.
