As an Accounting Manager on our Implementation Team, you’ll play a critical role in onboarding new clients and integrating accounting systems with accuracy, insight, and care. You will oversee implementation projects, collaborating with clients and internal teams to define project scope, set timelines, and ensure smooth execution. Your ability to lead through complexity, drive process improvements, and coach team members will be essential in ALC’s mission to Wow professionally and CARE personally.

You will provide oversight to junior accountants, ensuring quality output, continuous improvement, and alignment with client goals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys cross-functional collaboration, and is passionate about developing people and systems.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Client Implementation & Onboarding
    • Lead accounting implementation projects across multiple clients
    • Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, and timelines in partnership with clients and ALC teams
    • Serve as the primary accounting lead during onboarding; align expectations and deliverables across departments
    • Customize and implement accounting systems and tools to meet client-specific needs
    • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess success and drive future improvements
  • Accounting Oversight & Process Improvement
    • Review and streamline clients’ accounting operations for efficiency, compliance, and scalability
    • Lead the setup of processes, systems, and internal controls during onboarding
    • Lead complex reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting setup for new clients
    • Identify opportunities for automation and technology adoption during the onboarding phase
    • Maintain GAAP compliance across implementation efforts
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Provide guidance and oversight to senior and staff accountants, as well as shared services staff, assigned to implementation projects
    • Structure project roles, responsibilities, and deadlines to ensure clarity and accountability
    • Mentor team members through technical development
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture aligned with ALC’s values
    • Encourage reflection and innovation to improve team effectiveness
    • Collaborate effectively with internal CFOs and others on the recurring team to ensure clarity in communication and a smooth handoff
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Serve as a key point of contact for new clients during implementation; provide an excellent first experience with ALC
    • Build strong relationships by demonstrating reliability, transparency, and solution-oriented thinking
    • Address client questions and escalations professionally and independently
    • Proactively recommend process improvements and value-added services
    • Uphold confidentiality and protect client financial information at all times

Expected Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies:

  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of accounting principles, GAAP, and system integrations
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to evaluate financial data, anticipate issues, and advise on best-fit solutions
  • Project Management: Skilled in managing timelines, tasks, and stakeholders across multiple projects
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Client Service: Proactive, client-focused mindset with a commitment to building trust and delivering excellence
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor, guide, and develop team members with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement
  • Process Orientation: A strong drive for improving systems, streamlining workflows, and increasing efficiency
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Experience leading or supporting accounting system implementations and client onboarding
  • Comfort with multi-client environments and a fast-paced workload
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Intacct) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in a client services, outsourced accounting, or consulting environment preferred

Targeted range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 annually.

How We Determine What We Pay
As a fully remote employer, ALC determines pay for positions using national and industry-specific survey data. Our posted salary range is based on national data.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
