Project Engineering Manager

The Opportunity:

Provide technical direction to engineering projects and services in an assigned area, from design to start-up. Approve design for engineering phases of projects that pertain to processing. Manage engineers and drafting specialists as needed to complete these projects. Assure that contracts are awarded to the outside vendors that offer the best price and appropriate quality. Manage a team of entry/intermediate professionals or Supervisors with a focus on setting objectives, plans and tactics with direct impact on the immediate or short-term operational results of the department

Avantor is looking for an engaging and motivated Project Engineering Manager to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. 

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility with occasional travel to sites in California and Texas. You will have the opportunity to provide technical direction to engineering projects and services from design to start up. The team 

Avantor’s NuSil team is part of our Biomaterials unit. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major laboratories across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their lab processes and operations. 

What we’re looking for 

• Education: B.S. in engineering, mechanical preferred
• Experience: 5+ years in leadership role as a project engineer
  • Handling CapEx > $1Million
  • Leading a teams of 3+ individuals
  • Experience in a cGMP Manufacturing Environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards: ASME BPVC/B31.3, ISA 84, TEMA, NFPA 70/70E, etc

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP Certification
• MBA highly desired
• PE license highly desired

Project Engineering Manager, is responsible for overseeing engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time within budget and meet quality standards. This role involves cross functional teams managing resources and coordinating project activities, while providing technical oversight and resolving challenges. The manager is also tasked with developing project plans, budget, and schedules, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role required constant interaction with stakeholders. The is a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$102,200.00 - $170,300.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
