Job Details:

Purpose

The award-winning and multi-faceted Voces Oral History Center, established in 1999, seeks to hire a staff professional to advance its mission to record, disseminate and preserve the experiences of Latinos in the US. Works to complete creative and/or design related tasks and projects in support of university initiatives and special events. This position is for a minimum of one year with an opportunity for annual renewal based on available funding.

Responsibilities

  • To provide advanced professional services (videotaping and editing) and supervise the production activities of a comprehensive research center. Responsible for supervising and coordinating media development services for a comprehensive research center. Work independently and efficiently to meet numerous deadlines.  Supervise work products of part-time staff and occasional staff.

  • Define, plan, and develop timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage and oversee project outputs and finalize product. Clear communication and regular updates to director.

  • Process digital archives, including new and existing video, image and audio files, utilizing best practices of the Oral History Association.

  • Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform related duties as assigned. May attend professional training seminars. Stays current with changing technology.

  • Travel for interview sessions and meetings locally and nationally.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film or Journalism. 5 years of video production, including 2 years of project management.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual speaker. Master's degree in Radio, Television, and Film or Journalism. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, background in database (specifically FileMaker), knowledge of content management systems (Gather Content), website management (Drupal),   Must be able to work on multiple projects at once and prioritize. Lead complex projects involving planning, design and completion. Facilitate timely decisions with staff and report progress to director.

Salary Range

$80,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work occasional nights, weekends and holidays. May work under pressure and rigid deadlines.

Employment Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
